Timeline

17th-18th March -
Mind mapping ideas/concepts for the project. I started off with my interests. Narrowing down the interests to possible outcomes. At he same time i also researched for inspiration.
19th March -
The interactive toys concept seemed a challenging one. So i decided to go ahead with it. The target was young adults (late teens, early twenties). This is quite  challenge in itself. I looked at already existing traditional games that were played bu the older generation in olden times and how they have changed it now.
20th - 21st March -
Fleshing out the idea chosen. Looking at what can be done. At the same time looking at similar concepts and  ideas online.
22nd - 23rd March -
Finding a common theme for the idea and finalizing it. Looking at games in a different way. Not just board or card games, but how can it be a fun element in other things/ways.
24th March -
Moved in another direction. I found origami an interesting technique with an element of fun. Using fabric in place of paper. Ideating on how to still keep the fun and surprise element in the products. One form transforming into another. Multiple use of one object.
25th March -
Finalizing the idea.
28th - 30th March -
Exploring the idea and origami with fabric.
5th - 7th April -
Trying ways to have the origami effect on the cloth. Starching the cloth and then folding. Making the starch with rice. Figuring out the right proportion of starch to make the fabric similar to paper and its quality to help in folding. Silk worked the best. Thin and stiff.
8th April -
Buying the fabric. Went to Jumma Masjid road in search of paper silk (stiff silk). Buying for sampling.
9th - 12th April -
Sampling with the cloth. Making origami folds. Starching the fabric even more. Finding ways to make the folds permanent. Putting the folded and stitched cloth in microwave, steaming it in the pressure cooker and dipping it in a solution of ascetic acid and water. Testing if folds do not open up after dipping in water and drying. deciding on the final products.
13th - 14th April -
Making designs for the final products.
15th April -
Finalizing the designs. Final material buying.
16th - 18th April -
Working towards the final products. Folding fabrics and degumming (a shibori technique). Steaming for making the shape permanent.
19th - 21st April -
Stitching.
22nd April -
Margin. An extra day for safety.
23rd April -
Submission.
