Folding with paper to understand how the folds work:

Working towards the final pieces:

First i folded the fabric as required and creased it with an iron. After that i kept making mountain and valley folds as per the pattern requirement.

When it was completed, i secured the folds using u-clips, hand stitches and office binder clips. I dipped this in a solution of water and very little vinegar/acetic acid for about 15 minutes. I let it dry completely and then put to steam.

I wrapped the piece in white bond paper, printed paper would leave marks on the cloth,

before steaming (makes the folds permanent), so that the water does not touch the fabric

. Newsprint would also do. But no printed paper. One could try using printed paper and seeing the effect.

The wrapped piece has to be kept for steaming. It should not touch water. In order to do so, i placed a stand in water, over that i placed a steel vessel, in that i put the wrapped cloth and covered it with a lid which had holes. It is better to put the cloth in a vessel with holes. The one you get for steaming or salad, so that the steam enters and passes out.
I left it in for 20-30 minutes.
